Russian antitrust to announce amount of fine for Google Jun 28
MOSCOW, Jun 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service will announce on June 28 the amount of a fine for Google, which was earlier found guilty of abusing its dominant position on the market of preinstalled application stores, the authority’s Director Igor Artemyev told reporters late Tuesday.
“The both parties should weigh probability of an amicable agreement. I think, (Google) should decide it for themselves now, during the coming days. If I’m not mistaken, a court hearing of the appeal will take place on (June) 30, so by that date they have to make up their mind whether they want to discuss with us settlement of the issue or decrease of the fine, but they will have to follow our order, or go to court against us,” Artemyev said.
In early June, Artemyev said the antimonopoly service saw encouraging signs of Google’s readiness for dialogue and could reduce fine to 1% from 7% of turnover on the market, where it had committed violations.
The antitrust service has already delayed hearings to decide on the amount of the fine for Google several times.
